Johanna Torres, MS, LPC-Supervisor

Owner & Clinical Director

Hi! I'm thrilled that you've found your way here. I'm the proud owner and LPC-Supervsior at Padre Island Counseling.

My journey into the realm of counseling started with a Bachelor's degree from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX, and reached new heights with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Neuropsychology from The University of Texas at Tyler. My professional toolkit is as diverse as the clients I work with. I'm trained in LGBTQ+ affirming therapy, trauma therapy, and Chicanx/Latinx affirming therapy. Additionally, I'm an EMDR-trained clinician, equipped to navigate the intricacies of the mind with precision.

Specializing in anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and relationship therapy, I work closely with high achievers who excel in their professions but find relaxation and joy elusive. Struggling with the perpetual "yes" and prioritizing others over themselves, they've turned to self-help books, seeking relief without knowing where to begin.

I also connect remarkably well with family members navigating the complexities of supporting someone in active addiction or recovery, helping them create a roadmap for supporting their loved one. So, whether you're seeking relief from the challenges life throws your way, aiming to strengthen the connections in your relationships, or navigating the intricate landscape of supporting a loved one in their journey to recovery, I'm here to guide you with professionalism, empathy, and a sprinkle of humor. Beyond the office, I'm a health enthusiast, devoted to my four-legged companions, and a catalyst for impromptu beach days. Running, reading, yoga, ocean play—it's all part of my recipe for a well-balanced life. And let's not forget the therapeutic benefits of Blue Bell ice cream paired with a Netflix binge—because self-care comes in many flavors.

Yamilet Molina, MS, LPC Associate

(Supervised by Johanna Torres, MS, LPC-S)

Counselor Associate Level II

Hello! I am Yamilet Molina and am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Addiction Counseling from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. I enjoy working with individuals who struggle with eating disorders, addiction, depression, anxiety, and trauma. I am passionate about helping individuals heal their relationship with their mind and finding safety with their bodies.

I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with disordered eating, body image issues, over-exercise, and chronic dieting. My work involves helping clients in embracing and valuing their bodies while learning to navigate and cope with diet culture and societal expectations. I practice from a social justice lens and am Health at Every Size aligned to help clients reach body liberation. I also have specialized training in working with substance use disorders to support clients and their families in addressing the underlying causes and conditions that drive addiction and the addictive cycle.

Struggling with an eating disorder, substance use disorder, or trauma can have you feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from yourself and those around you. I help individuals heal and regain control over their lives by uncovering the root causes of their emotional distress, providing a safe environment where they can begin exploring their emotions, and learn new coping skills to find relief.

In my spare time, I enjoy running, teaching group fitness classes, walking my dog, finding new coffee shops, and rewatching shows that I have seen way too many times (mostly Friends and Grey’s Anatomy).

Meghan Garcia, M. Ed., LPC Associate

Counselor Associate Level I

Hello and welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who focuses on wellness for the mind, body, and spirit. I have a Bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in fine art, and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. I've completed training in LGBTQ+ affirming therapy, therapeutic dreamwork, and introductory expressive art techniques. I am also a trauma-informed RYT 200 hr yoga instructor to help individuals safely connect to their bodies.

We carry the stories of our past within our bodies, and I believe its important not only to consider how your earliest relationships currently effect you, but to also provide a safe space to model healthy relationships, explore dreams/nightmares and help understand them, and share practical skills to relieve anxiety and emotional overwhelm.

II specialize in anxiety, attachment trauma, codependency, depression, perfectionism, sexual trauma, religious trauma, and lgbtqia+ issues and support. My clients have often repeatedly tried talk therapy with a focus on trying to "think" their way out of anxiety and depression. They are often sensitive and empathic individuals who have experienced trauma, and have a difficult time feeling at ease mentally and physically.

Outside of my role as a therapist, I'm your typical millennial elder emo who loves rock concerts, horror movies, oat milk lattes, and thrifting. I feel my happiest when I'm able to spend time at the beach, practicing yoga with my dog, and singing way too loudly in the car with my partner.
