SESSION PAYMENT & CANCELLATION POLICY
Therapy sessions are typically weekly for 50 - 65 minutes depending upon the nature of the presenting challenges. It is difficult to initially predict how many sessions will be needed. You and your therapist will collaboratively discuss from session to session what the next steps are and how often therapy sessions will occur.
Payment is due on the day of service and is automatically charged to the card on file.
You are responsible for attending each appointment and agree to adhere to the following policy: If you cannot keep the scheduled appointment, you MUST notify the office to cancel or reschedule the appointment in advanced of 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time. If you fail to cancel or reschedule your appointment within 24 hours, your credit card on file will be charged the full session fee. Emergency circumstances (i.e., hospitalization, illness, accident, a death in the family) will be addressed on an individual basis. Our therapists are also expected to be on time, and will offer appropriate remedy if late, such as making the time up or pro-rating the fee.
INSURANCE & FORMS OF PAYMENT
Several of our therapists are in network with AETNA, CIGNA, and OPTUM/UHC but not everyone is. Please contact your insurance provider before scheduling an appointment to ensure that we are covered under your specific plan. You can reach them at the phone number located on the back of your insurance card. *Please note that your insurance provider may not cover mental health services. Be sure to contact them directly.*
For clients who do not want to use insurance and/or are not covered under an insurance panel that we are credentialed with, we are happy to submit statements (known as Superbills) for Out of Network reimbursement. Be sure to contact your insurance provider and ask: How do I obtain reimbursement for therapy with an out-of-network provider?
Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions? Get in touch or look at the FAQ section.
Who is therapy for?
Therapy is for everyone, not just for people in crisis. Therapy is an investment in your self. In therapy you will learn how to help reduce symptoms, improve relationships, overcome self-doubt, and improve self-worth. You deserve to invest in yourself.
How does therapy work?
The therapeutic process seeks to meet goals established by you and your therapist, usually revolving around specific issues or symptoms. Participating in therapy may include benefits such as the resolution of issues or reduction of symptoms, as well as healthier relationships with those around you. Therapy may reduce distress, enhance stress management, and increase your ability to manage problems related to work, family, personal, relational, etc. Participating in therapy can lead to greater understanding of who you are, what you want, and how to get there. This can increase your overall well-being and lead to greater happiness. Progress will be assessed on a regular basis and feedback from you will be elicited to ensure the most effective therapeutic services are provided.
How do I get started?
The first step is to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation to see if your areas of need align with our areas of expertise. New clients are scheduled via email or consultation request only. Voicemails are monitored and phone calls are returned within 1-2 business days. The initial paperwork is completed through our HIPAA-compliant client portal and will be sent to you once you are scheduled.
What is the first session like?
In your first appointment, the therapeutic process, structure, and policies and procedures will be discussed. During this session, you and your therapist will collaboratively create therapeutic goals based on your presenting issues or symptoms. Your therapist will also ask you a lot of questions about your past, present, and future in order to tailor a treatment plan specifically for you.
How long will I need to be in therapy for?
Therapy takes time and effort and is not a quick fix. However, our therapists are trained in short-term solution-focused counseling that is typically between 10-12 sessions. Please be sure to share with your therapist if short-term counseling works best for you. You are here right now, meaning you are ready for change (go you!). Schedule a consultation today.
